Our Swimming Programmes

We run two core swimming programmes here at Puddle Ducks. Both programmes are tailor-made to give your child confidence in the water and to teach them the technique to grow and become strong swimmers;

Baby & Pre-school (for babies and children aged 0-4 years)
Swim Academy (for children aged 4-10 years)

As your child completes and progresses through our different programme levels, they will be awarded a swimming badge. If you would like to purchase these to collect them, you can do this through your online My Puddle Ducks Account.

By logging in to your My Puddle Ducks account and selecting the My Children page, you can see the next class your little one is planned to move into once they are ready and there is space. Floaties to Splashers

Floaties lessons are such a special bonding time but did you know all the activities we do in Floaties are getting our little Puddle Ducks ready for the next step of their swimming journey?

Our Splashers classes offer great progression as your baby gains head control and back strength and learns to communicate more. We also focus on the parent/carer. We teach you how to teach your child to swim - how to confidently handle them in the water and how to support them with independent swimming.

Splashers to Kickers

Our Splashers classes are full of action, toys and songs! The progression in this level is visible for all to see, with the littlest ones learning from their peers as well as their parents and our clever teachers. Watching a baby that can’t yet walk, initiate their own head down swim is a pretty special thing😊.

Language and responding to key words, counting and listening all play a part when children move to Kickers. We use two short woggles to help them move around without adult support (which often ends in the parent chasing them around the pool 😊). Many of the learning outcomes are directly linked to personal survival, which is a key element of the programme.

Kickers to Little Dippers

Your Kickers classes will be full of #swimmingmilestones as you watch your little one responding to instructions, entering the pool safely and independently and moving around on two short woggles without your support! Plus, essential personal survival skills such as turning and reaching for the side are being instilled.

What’s next? Little Dippers is full of new skills to learn; back swimming, exhaling in the water, independently pushing from the wall, head down and swimming to adult, reaching under water for a sinking ring…the list goes on! Children are still supported in every way they need, physically and emotionally (a parent or guardian is in the water with them), and only moved forward at their own pace and when they tell us they are ready.

Beyond Little Dippers

In Little Dippers, your swimmer is learning so many new skills; back swimming, exhaling in the water, independently swimming to their adult – the list goes on.

Everything they do is preparing them for being in the water without their adult. Depending on whether your little one fulfils their Little Dippers criteria before their 4^th birthday, they might go through our Dippers class or they might go straight to our Swim Academy! (They can stay in Little Dipper or Dippers until just before their 5^th Birthday)
